Coniston is a place that provides true beauty
Coniston is a picture perfect market town in the Furness region of Cumbria. Located in the southern part of the Lake District, it has grown from a relatively small farming village into a place that provides true beauty and a place to relax for many tourists from all over the country. It is located between Coniston Water, the third largest lake in the area, and Coniston Old Man.
Unsurprisingly, Coniston Water is where a lot of Coniston's most popular attractions are based and is home to the Steam Yacht Gondola that many people love. The trip transports you back to Victorian times and allows you to relax in a steam powered craft. It is ideal for couples celebrating a special occasion as it oozes luxury and enchantment.
To delve further into the Victorian era, Brantwood, home of John Ruskin, is also worth a visit. The 250-acre estate has eight gardens that are all different in character and also boasts ancient woodland meaning it is much more than just a building. It is also home to plenty of art and memorabilia too - perfect for people who like history. The house itself also enjoys superb lake and mountain views and offers a sample of the diverse literary and artistic links that it so proudly possesses.
Coniston has quite a few eateries on offer and all provide something different which makes the place ideal for people that like to sample different things. There are tea rooms and coffee shops dotted all around for people that want a light snack or refreshment and there are traditional pubs and restaurants for whenever you prefer a larger meal too. Jumping Jenny is a good coffee house at Brantwood as is Bank Ground Farm Tea Room that also offers home-made cakes and lunches.
For something a little more substantial the Old Rectory Hotel has a restaurant that offers good quality English dishes and provides a good atmosphere. Speaking of atmosphere, for a traditional environment, the Crown Inn is also a great place to head. It is surrounded by glorious countryside and has a wide range of meals and refreshments including plenty of alcoholic beverages.
