The quality and variety of scenery is simply marvellous.
Windermere is one of the best known towns in Cumbria and lies around one kilometre away from the lake of the same name. Throughout the years it has built up a reputation as a great place to visit as it provides a romantic setting that boasts plenty of attractions that allow people to relax and unwind as well as see and feel natural beauty in its finest form.
The area is also a great place to head if you're passionate about walking as it offers great routes that lead onto some of the finest scenery in the country. There are mountains, hills, rough tracks and steep slopes all around, so the quality and variety of scenery is simply marvellous.
No trip to Windermere would be complete without sampling the famous lake's activities however, and there are plenty of them to choose from. For people who want to relax there are many water cruises throughout the day where food and refreshment is available - this proves to be a great day out for many and is a highlight of any trip to Windermere.
For people more into adrenalin inspired activities, there is also a watersports activity centre that allows people to have fun and try out new things. Low Wood Watersports and Activity Centre has a large lake frontage and an extensive range of equipment meaning it is a great base for waterskiing, sailing and kayaking.
The Lake District in general is associated with many famous people, not least Beatrix Potter, and here at Windermere all the family are treated to the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction.
Following a large refurbishment, the venue is better than it has ever been and brings all twenty three of Beatrix Potter's tales to life in three dimensions.
Similarly, it is also a hub for day trippers as it offers shops, eateries and museums galore and provides the best of both worlds - old buildings that highlight the areas rich history as well as new and contemporary shops and boutique stores that bring the place into the twentieth century - both mix extremely well too. In Windermere there is something for everybody including a wide variety of shops, arts and craft stores, pubs, restaurants, health and fitness venues and many sports to partake in - whatever your preference, Windermere has it covered.
Eating out in Windermere is a real pleasure as there is plenty of diversity and variety at every corner. There are pubs offering traditional pub food as well as many restaurants offering cuisine from around the world.
If you fancy a night in, there are also a good range of takeaway outlets to choose from.
When it comes to exquisite dining however, none can beat The Mortal Man Inn at Troutbeck or Jerichos. The Mortal Man is a charming venue and is ideal whether you want a light snack or a delicious main meal. It also provides scintillating views and is great for something a little bit different. Equally, the Jerichos establishment is just as beautiful and is a well established restaurant in Windermere that serves locally sourced cuisine prepared by a British Master Chef. The establishment is also highly rated by the Good Food and Michelin Guides.
